The Power of Now
Book: The Power of Now
Author: Eckhart Tolle
Type: Spiritual
Purchased this book couple years ago when it was recommended to me by a friend. Read few pages for a couple of days and put it on my coffee table. It not making any sense to me, I left it as it was. When the time to travel to Bangladesh, I had the notion of bringing the book along with me. "Hoping" to do some light reading on the plane; I ended up watching tons of movies instead. Not having interest and minimal understanding, I put it in the mixed pile of all the other travel items in my messenger bag.
For a couple of days, I moved it aside to grab other "travel" necessities. On a brisk and sunny fall morning, a breeze of inspiration made me pick up and read while brushing my teeth. Was caught by my little cousin as I walked to find the "perfect" spot to read. She had a twinkle in her eye, and with enough curiosity, she asked me what it was. The mixed language of Bengali and English, I mustered up few words to explain(confuse) her. Somewhere in the lines of what I had read, what I had expected out of the book. She seemed quite inspired and interested that I gave the book away.
Years passed, the book resurfaced in my conscious and this time, the intention to finish it. Without expectation, the drive and motivation led me to purchase another copy. I read and tried to make sense out of it, at least of what I could. Sometimes it made logical sense. Other times, left me puzzled. The book reiterated multiple times that just to read and let it fester in mind. It would make sense afterward. The book contains valuable insight as well as subconscious advice. Complicated or straightforward perspective, this advice seems to apply. Book made me question a lot about my self and how I see the world.
The book was well worth the investment. I did not read it all at once; however, I am glad I did finish it and that I gave a copy to my cousin. I hope she read it and then passes the book around. It will provide her with an eye-opener, a mind-blowing sensation and see the world differently.
I know I will pick this book once again and read it.
